About Us During the late 1700's, when Common Land was enclosed, properties in Hook applied for grazing rights to enable them to continue rearing livestock for their needs. The properties that applied presumably had animals but insufficient land of their own. Some of these properties still exist (just over 30), the residents of which, can either use the grazing or be paid a small sum of money for not having grazed animals.
