Sanaa Gateja works with traditional, locally resourced and recycled materials at his studio and gallery, Kwetu Africa, in Lubowa, Kampala. His canvases are made from pieces of barkcloth which he stitches together by hand, often emebellishing his work with found and scrap objects, resulting in highly tactile pieces.
