History of the Club Snippets of an article written by Margaret Kinsella. In 1993 Pat McArdle, who was a member of the Oakleaf riding club, got the idea of starting a riding club in the Carlow area. Pat approached Susan Patterson regarding using her premises at Carrigbeg Riding School as a base and was met with a positive response. Notice of a preliminary meeting was sent to all and sundry.
